What RepairBy and the repair shop you booked with hold about you, why they hold it, and how to get it removed.

In short

This summary is here to be read. The sections below are what actually applies.

Who holds your data

Two organisations are involved in every repair, and it is worth being clear about which is which.

A question about your repair goes to the shop. A question about the data itself can go to either — write to us at the address at the end of this page and we will act on it or pass it on.

What is collected

Only what a pickup-and-return repair actually needs. In full:

On the shop’s side we also record who on their team did what, and when, so a change to a job can be traced. That record includes the IP address the change came from.

We do not collect your date of birth, your email address, any government identifier, or your card details. Payment for the repair is settled between you and the shop — in cash or by UPI directly to them — and never passes through us.

Why it is collected

It is not used for advertising, it is not profiled, it is not sold, and it is never shared with another shop on the platform. Each shop’s data is isolated at the database level, so one shop cannot query another’s customers even by mistake.

Photographs

The photographs deserve their own section, because they are the most personal thing here: pictures of your property, usually taken at your door.

They are taken by the rider when your device is collected and again when it is handed back, and sometimes by a technician during diagnosis. They exist so that "it was already cracked" is a question with an answer.

Who can see them:

How long they are kept: until the repair is over, and then for the period the shop has set — 90 days unless they changed it. If the repair carries a warranty that runs longer than that, the photographs are kept until the warranty ends, because they are the evidence in a warranty claim. A job that is still open keeps its photographs however old they are.

After that they are deleted automatically. A job runs every night and removes both the pictures and the stored files behind them; nothing is kept "just in case".

You can ask for them sooner. Your tracking page has a button that deletes the pickup photographs there and then, once your repair is finished and any warranty has ended. Those two things protect you as much as the shop, which is why they come first.

Who else sees it

A handful of services do jobs we do not do ourselves. Each one gets only what that job needs.

Some of these process data outside India. We do not sell data to anyone, and we hand it over to an authority only where the law requires it.

A shop can also connect its own WhatsApp number instead of ours, in which case its messages to you go through that number rather than through Meta’s business platform on our account.

How long things are kept

The database is backed up every night. Something deleted today stays in those backups until they are rotated out, which is normal for any service and is the one place a deletion is not instant.

Your rights, and how to use them

What survives a deletion request, and only this: the invoice, the payment record and the job number those belong to, for the 6 years the tax rules require. The invoice PDF already issued keeps the name and number that were printed on it, because a tax invoice cannot be edited after it has been given to a customer.

Your mobile number also stays on your sign-in record if you still have a repair history with another shop on RepairBy — it is how you sign in there. Write to us if you want that removed too.

Cookies

Two, and both are ones the site cannot work without. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to.

Your dark-mode choice is kept in your browser’s own storage and never sent to us. There are no analytics, no advertising pixels and no third-party scripts on any page a customer sees.

How it is protected

No system is perfect. If something does go wrong we will tell the shops affected, and their customers where the law requires it.

Children

This service is for adults booking a repair. We do not knowingly collect anything about a child. If you believe a child’s details are here, write to us and they will be removed.

Changes to this policy

The date at the top of this page is when it last changed. Where a change materially affects what is collected or who sees it, shops are told before it takes effect.

Contact

Write to privacy@repairby.app with anything on this page, including a request to see or delete your data. Tell us the mobile number you booked with, so we can find you.

If your question is about a particular repair, the shop will answer it faster than we can — their number is on the site you booked from.
